Daily nut consumption reduces risk of dementia AND depression

Daily nut consumption reduces risk of dementia AND depression

If you feel you're losing it a bit, or feeling down ... Have some nuts! (Backed by science, of course)

A UK study involving over 50,000 participants has found that those who ate a handful of nuts a day (around 30g) were less likely to suffer from dementia and also depression.

The study's tracked participants for an average of 7 years, and recorded their health status at the beginning and end, together with a wide range of dietary and lifestyle choices.

It concluded that those who ate nuts on a daily basis lowered their risk of dementia by 12% (16% for those over 60 years old). And the same amount of nuts lowered the risk of depression by 16%. Of course, there are caveats involved such as obesity, reported loneliness, tobacco and alcohol consumption.

So all in all to stay sane and happy in this fairly crazy world... eat nuts! And if they are organic and activated then even better!
